September feature - Harper's Bazaar Art Middle East

It was nice to wake up this morning to see that the summer group exhibition I took part in, 'The Devil May Care', is currently featured in this September issue of Harper's Bazaar Art Middle East. There's a special highlight on the work of my homeboy Aso Mohammadi and myself, click here to read it!

Magnum Emergency Fund Nomination

I was delighted to be nominated for the Magnum Emergency Fund a few months ago which allows photographers the opportunity of financial aid to help produce work focused on under-reported issues. Although I didn't recieve the grant this time around this year's selection of 11 grantees is really good and I'm excited to see what they produce. Check them out!

SCHAU Festival

Very exciting news this month! I've been selected by Stead Bureau to present my work at Schau Festival in Dortmund from June 20th-22nd! I will also be taking part in a discussion about censorship in the Middle East and will be presenting the Center of Photograph Arts with Melchior de Tinguy, an organization we founded in Bahrain in January 2014. Here's a little snippet about us:

The Center of Photographic Arts is an organization created to guide and develop the photographic arts in Bahrain and the GCC. Located inside Maison Jamsheer in Muharraq and fully supported by The French Embassy, the Alliance Francaise and the Shaikh Ebrahim Center for Culture and Research,it is a hub and conduit for photographers to develop and promote their talent while connecting and collaborating with each other.

The Center of Photographic Arts Board organizes workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and networking events to connect local and regional photographers. The Centre of Photographic Arts will be hosting international photographers as a part of a residency program to train and inspire regional aspiring and professional photographers.

www.cpabahrain.com coming soon!

The line up is looking great so this is a photography festival you do not want to miss! Come say hello to all us Stead Bureau wild cats if your around, promise we won't scratch! ;)

Showing my work alongside 10 other artists from the Arab World. Hope to see you all there!

Recreational purpose is a group photography exhibition commissioned on the occasion of Manama, Capital of Arab Tourism 2013. Six photographers from across the Arab World were invited to Bahrain for a short-term residency to work. The exhibition offers 11 personal and subjective readings of the urban and natural landscape and as many interpretations. The diversity of the photographic portfolio questions the increasingly homogenous and flattening branding initiatives for cultural tourism.

Participating artists: Taysir Batniji, Nicène Kossentini, Hrair Sarkissian, Ghada Khonji, Jamal penjweny, Waheeda Malullah, Eman Ali, Steve Sabella, Haya Al Khalifa, Camille Zakharia and Wed Abduljawad

UPDATE: A few photos of my installation
